We headed to the mother-in-law’s for Christmas, the jalopy laden with tons of gifts. And the usual over-excited minors. Yet the toy that left the deepest impression on me and Ava, our six-year-old […]

In American viewership, England has recently had a reputation for off the wall, sometimes negative and almost nihilistic comedy where nothing seems to ever really go right for the characters on the shows. In this cast is a show currently airing on BBC America on Wednesday nights titled Peep Show. Peep show has found great popularity back in England and has run for six seasons since the year 2003, with a seventh season having been ordered for later in 2010. The show revolves around one of England’s most famous comedy duos, Robert Mitchell and David Webb as roommates or flat mates as an English person might say. The show centers around the socially awkward Mark, played by David Mitchell, as a loan manager at a fictional credit union and Jeremy, played by Robert Webb, as an unemployed but somewhat happy go lucky musician. One episode in particular, of the show features scenes in a court room, and people who may even be an Allen bankruptcy attorney or an Allen bankruptcy lawyer.

In one particular episode of the show, Jeremy is picked to do jury duty, a discovery made while he is sitting at the kitchen table watching cartoons and drawing on instead of opening the mail. When Mark opens up the letter requesting Jeremy to do jury duty rather than him, he is shocked and tells Jeremy that he isn’t logical enough as a thinker to be a jury member and reminds him that he doesn’t even know exactly what happens in the film Ocean’s 11.

When he finally gets to his jury service, Jeremy is horribly bored and sleeps through most of the arguments from the legal teams and comes in with a preconceived notion that the defendant is guilty of her crimes just because she looks like the type. However, while on a break from arguments in the lunch room of the courthouse, Jeremy meets the defendant in real life and shares a few jokes with her before exchanging phone numbers and asking her out for a few drinks, which is of course against the law both in America and England. Then, Jeremy changes his tune and is the one person holding out in opposition to a guilty verdict and feels she couldn’t have done it.

After taking her out for drinks, Jeremy asks the defendant about her crimes and she replies that she didn’t do it, but that she cheats other people all the time and even goes so far as to steal some money from somebody’s wallet with Jeremy right next to her. Following this rash of minor crimes Jeremy becomes afraid of the girl and thinks that she’ll make him do her evil bidding with her for the rest of his life if she stays out of jail.

At the last deliberation of the jury Jeremy admits to the other jurors that he went out with the defendant and realizes that while she didn’t commit this crime she has committed others and gives an impassioned speech about how they’re responsible for locking her away. Finally, to conclude the episode, a voiceover of Jeremy says that justice was done in the court, which is quickly changed to say that real justice hadn’t been done, but what he wanted happened which is basically the same thing.

Today, plenty of individuals are thinking carefully before they spend their money. The numbers of people who are choose to travel outside the U.S. for vacation has decreased significantly over the past few years. If you or others you know are thinking about taking a family vacation close to home then you should consider taking a long weekend trip somewhere that is not far from where you live. This saves money and a good bit of time if you just go for the weekend. A Cincinnati debt relief agent says that less dense cities are a great vacation choice for those who are watching their money this year. A Cincinnati criminal defense lawyer also added to the benefits by saying that crime usually goes down when there are more tourists in a city because local people are busier with work when there is an influx of out-of-town guests. This city from which the agent and the attorney spoke is actually a really nice place to visit for those on a budget. Below is a list of the many things |families and couples can do and see while touring this city:

1. Families and couples alike are sure to have an enjoyable experience at Kings Island, an amusement park, located about 20 to 30 minutes from downtown. Recently, a newly remodeled hotel was built right across from the park, making things very easy for those with young children. Couples would probably really rather stay at a different hotel a little further away from the park. Discounted tickets may be bought at many grocery stores and at AAA.

2. Going to see the Reds baseball team in the warm weather or the Bengals football team in the fall is also fun for both couples and families. The Reds and the Bengals make available activities for kids during the game, like pictures with the mascots who walk around the stadiums and free gifts may also come your way.

3. Mount Adams is a nice area for adults, especially at night in the summer. This hidden town is a favorite among locals who enjoy the cool bars and many global specific restaurants. It is located at the top of a humongous hill, only about 10 minutes from downtown and it offers amazing views of the city from many different angles.

4. Finally, if you are staying for a longer period of time, Kentucky is also not very far from Ohio. Lexington is only about an hour and a half away from your point of origin in Southwest Ohio. The Kentucky Horse park is famous for housing many of the previous Kentucky Derby horses and the horse that starred in the film, “Sea Biscuit.” Also, there is the famous University of Kentucky basketball team museum placed right by Rupp Arena. Again, this is a very do-able day trip for those who are staying longer than a weekend in Ohio.

There are plenty of things to do and see on a vacation if you are on a strict a budget this year. When thinking about a trip, look into smaller, less expensive cities and go from there. Once you determine how far away from home you can or want to go that will definitely place some restrictions on your search. The economy being the way it is has the potential to be a blessing in disguised because many smaller cities are flourishing with the increase in tourism many of them have seen this year alone.
